No One Told Me My 40s Would Feel Like This

Woman in gym attire leans on fitness equipment, holding shoes. Background features exercise machines. Calm and confident mood.

This is the part no one prepares you for. You think you're doing all the things you're "supposed" to do. You're showing up as a wife and a mother even when you're tired and stressed out. You're trying and yet you're body feels unfamiliar.

Last year, I turned 45 and bam 30 pounds gained out of nowhere. My clothes started to fit differently and let's not talk about how I suddenly developed eczema causing my skin to react in ways it never did before. Energy dips without reason. Confidence takes a hit along with sleepless nights and hot flashes.

This all messes with your head and you start questioning yourself: Am I doing something wrong? Why isn't this working anymore? Why do I feel like Im in a fight with my own body?

Perimenopause has a way of humbling you. Hormones fluctuate daily. Cortisol spikes. Estrogen dips. Inflammation shows up where it never used to-hello, eczema. Weight gain feels stubborn and unfair, especially when you're still dieting and exercising. Yet somehow, we're expected to quietly accept it all.

I'm learning this season is a natural part of life's progression, not a sign of decline. So let's take the first step today by choosing one small change-whether it's trying a new protein packed recipe, moving your body for 30 minutes or updating your skincare. Each step builds towards stronger, better you.

Thanks for reading and have a great day my friend!

Jacci you hit this on the head. I started peri-menopause in my 30’s and reached full menopause by the young age of 43. I thought that I was losing my mind. My life and obligations felt overwhelming and my body changes were frustrating and all of it left me feeling depleted.

I appreciate you for creating a platform and a place to share share real experiences.
